New Delhi, May 4 (NationPress) As tensions rise between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terrorist attack that resulted in the death of 26 civilians, primarily tourists, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated on Sunday that it is his obligation to deliver a “befitting reply” to anyone who dares to harm the nation.

During his speech at the Sanskriti Jagran Mahotsav in New Delhi, the Defence Minister also highlighted the leadership style of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“I want to assure you that under PM Narendra Modi's guidance, what you aspire for will indeed materialize. You are familiar with our PM’s approach and determination,” Rajnath Singh remarked.

“The physical safety of India has always been safeguarded by our courageous soldiers... As the Defence Minister, my duty is to collaborate with my soldiers to secure the borders of our nation, and it is my responsibility to provide a fitting response to those who threaten our country,” he emphasized.

“On one side, our soldiers are engaged on the 'Rannbhoomi' (battlefield), while on the other, our saints are active in the 'Jeevanbhoomi'. India's strength lies not just in its military, but also in its rich culture and spirituality,” he stated at the event.

Earlier this week, Prime Minister Modi convened a crucial meeting with the Chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, along with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

During this high-level assessment, the Prime Minister empowered the military leadership with the authority to decide the timing, method, and targets for India's response. The political leadership has reportedly lifted all restrictions, indicating that a robust and well-calibrated counter-response could be imminent.

In the meantime, India has halted the exchange of all types of mail and parcels with Pakistan through both air and land routes.

Following the April 22 attack in the Baisaran Valley, Rajnath Singh asserted that India would track down and bring to justice all those involved in the conspiracy against it.

“We will not only pursue those who committed this act. We will also target those who have conspired from the shadows to carry out such heinous acts on Indian soil,” Singh stated, adding that India remains united against terrorism and has a zero-tolerance policy towards it.
