Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Tuesday, 7 July said that Ram Katha serves as one of the most effective mediums for carrying India's cultural heritage, spiritual traditions, and moral values to the wider public. He made the remarks at a Shri Ram Katha programme held in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, marking the consecration ceremony of the Shri Ardhanarishwar Shiva Temple at Raghuvanshpuram Ashram in Kelava Khurd.
What Birla Said at the Event
Addressing a large gathering of saints, seers, and devotees, Birla said India carries a rich legacy of spirituality, yoga, Dharma, and cultural tradition. He observed that the teachings of sages and the country's spiritual practices have long conveyed messages of healthy living, morality, and spiritual awareness to the world.
Birla praised revered storyteller Murlidhar Maharaj for spreading the message of Indian culture and the ideals of righteous living through Ram Katha across India and abroad. He also commended Yoga Rishi Baba Ramdev for inspiring people towards a lifestyle rooted in health, discipline, and cultural values.
Significance of Lord Ram's Teachings
The Lok Sabha Speaker said the teachings of Lord Shri Ram inspire people to uphold the principles of duty, truth, devotion, and morality. He underscored the broader social role of temples, describing them not merely as places of worship but as centres for nurturing values, compassion, social harmony, and cultural awareness.
Birla said the newly consecrated Ardhanarishwar Mahadev Temple would emerge as a centre of spiritual energy and social harmony. Explaining the symbolism of the Ardhanarishwar form, he noted that Lord Shiva represents sacrifice and the welfare of society, while Goddess Parvati embodies compassion and affection — together conveying a message of balance, equality, and harmony.
