Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Tindivanam (Tamil Nadu), Feb 12 (NationPress) Dr. S. Ramadoss, the founder of Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), strongly criticized a faction that he claims was expelled from the party, alleging they are engaged in a smear campaign aimed at undermining his political presence as the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections approach.
Speaking to reporters at his home in Thailapuram near Tindivanam, the seasoned politician accused the group of intentionally spreading misinformation to tarnish his reputation and disrupt the unity within the party.
While he did not specify any names, his comments seemed to target his estranged son and former PMK President, Anbumani Ramadoss, along with his supporters.
Dr. Ramadoss asserted that the faction had repeatedly utilized “false accusations and derogatory language” not only against him but also directed at senior PMK leader G.K. Mani.
“They are relying on deceit and causing confusion among party workers and the public. We have expelled this group from primary membership of the PMK,” he emphasized, stating firmly that the party's leadership would not accept any form of indiscipline.
He contended that the ousted members were trying to misrepresent themselves as authentic party representatives despite their expulsion, and termed their actions as a deliberate attempt to weaken the organization at a pivotal political moment.
As for electoral preparations, Ramadoss disclosed that negotiations are ongoing regarding potential alliances for the upcoming Assembly elections. He mentioned that the party is engaging with prospective partners and promised that an official announcement regarding the alliance strategy would follow shortly.
“We are thoroughly reviewing our options and will make a decision that best serves the interests of our constituents and the party,” he stated.
The PMK founder also criticized the Election Commission of India (ECI), claiming it has demonstrated bias concerning the party’s internal leadership issues. Referring to a recent ruling by the Delhi High Court, he pointed out that the court stated that any leadership disputes should be settled only by a competent court. Nonetheless, he accused the ECI of continuing to interfere unjustly.
He affirmed that the party would seek legal recourse if necessary and reiterated that the PMK remains united under his leadership as it gears up for the forthcoming electoral challenges.
