Ranchi, Jan 16 (NationPress) In a stunning development, two sisters from Hindpiri, Ranchi, were successfully rescued from Karnataka after being abducted due to a romantic entanglement. Authorities have apprehended five suspects linked to the case.
The incident surfaced when an FIR regarding the sisters' kidnapping was lodged on January 11, sparking significant alarm in Ranchi.
During a press briefing on Thursday, Ranchi SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha shared insights into the case's complexities.
SSP Sinha revealed that the primary suspect, Mohammad Ismail, hailing from Raichur, Karnataka, was romantically involved with Rahnuma Parveen. Ismail coerced Rahnuma, leading her younger sister to unwittingly assist in his scheme.
To mislead law enforcement and their family, the younger sister contacted their father, falsely claiming that an auto driver was forcibly abducting them and had seized their phones and wallets. Shortly after this call, the sisters' phones were turned off. However, investigations indicated that this call was a deliberate ruse to mislead the police.
The initial search efforts by the police focused on jungle and mountainous areas based on phone location. They encountered difficulties as the suspects destroyed their phones and SIM cards, opting for new devices without SIMs and utilizing railway Wi-Fi and mobile hotspots for communication.
The sisters were transported from Ranchi in an Alto car to Chitarpur in Jharkhand, then to Koderma, and subsequently traveled by train through Gaya (Bihar), Varanasi, and eventually to Karnataka.
With the cooperation of Karnataka's ADG and local law enforcement, the girls were rescued, and the suspects were taken into custody. Those arrested include Mohammad Ismail (Raichur, Karnataka), Junaid Alam (Hindpiri, Ranchi), Qasid Feroz, Mazhar Alam (Chitarpur, Ramgarh), and Imran Khan (Garhwa).
Recovered items consist of an Alto car, a scooty, five mobile phones, and counterfeit Aadhaar cards.
The successful operation was executed by a determined police team led by DSP Prakash Soy, K.B. Raman, trainee DSP Dusru Ban Singh, Prabhat Kumar Singh, Adikant Mahato (Kotwali police station in-charge), Sunil Kushwaha (Hindpiri police station in-charge), along with 21 other officers.
SSP Sinha announced that the team would receive accolades for their prompt and exemplary efforts.
