Kochi, July 31 (NationPress) The renowned Malayalam rapper Hirandas Murali, better known as Vedan, is facing serious allegations of sexual assault from a doctor, as confirmed by police in Kochi, Kerala on Thursday. The authorities have officially documented the case.

A senior police official from Kochi addressed the media, revealing that an FIR has been filed against Vedan. "In light of the complaint, we have initiated an investigation. The preliminary inquiry is underway, and suitable actions will follow as the investigation unfolds. There were also financial transactions involved between the two parties," stated the police official.

Currently, no summons have been issued to Vedan.

"It has come to light that the events that transpired between them are known to a select few. We will be reaching out to those individuals as well. At this moment, we have taken the complainant's statement based on her allegations," added the police official.

On Wednesday at 8 PM, the female doctor approached the Thrikakkara police station to file her complaint.

In her account to the police, she detailed that Vedan had exploited her sexually from 2021 to 2023.

Their relationship began while she was still a medical student in 2021, during which she experienced sexual exploitation on five occasions (in Kozhikode, Kochi, and at a friend's residence) under the guise of a promise to marry her.

She also indicated in her complaint that they lived together for a few days.

Regarding the financial aspects, she mentioned that in 2021, as he prepared for his first album release, he lacked sufficient funds. On two separate occasions, she lent him Rs 15,000 and also covered Rs 8,300 for his train travel.

The two first connected via social media. She noted that in 2023, he expressed disinterest in continuing the relationship, leading to their separation, which caused her significant emotional distress, and despite several attempts, she was unable to reconnect with him.

In response to the allegations, Vedan's brother stated they are unaware of the situation, noting that it has been some time since Vedan visited their home.

However, his brother indicated that they would also consider taking legal actions.

Vedan gained popularity through his rap performances under the banner of his team, Voice of the Voiceless.

He started his rap journey in 2020, adopting the name Vedan.

That same year, three of his lyrical contributions to films—Nayattu, Karam, and Manjummel Boys—became hits, propelling him to fame.

Since then, he has amassed a substantial fan base.

Interestingly, in April, Vedan faced legal troubles after being implicated in two cases. He, along with eight others, was arrested in connection with a narcotics raid at his rented apartment in Kaniyampuzha, but was later released on bail.

Additionally, Kerala Forest officials detained him after a large tooth found in his jewelry was identified as belonging to a tiger, although he was subsequently released.
