Jaipur, June 10 (NationPress) Ravi Prakash Meharda, the Director General of the Anti Corruption Bureau, has received the additional responsibility of serving as the DGP of Rajasthan as of Tuesday. This change follows the appointment of former DGP Utkal Ranjan Sahoo as the chairman of the RPSC, according to an official statement.

In line with a government directive, it was stated: "Dr. Ravi Prakash will manage the duties of the Director General of Police, Rajasthan, alongside his current responsibilities until further notice."

The directive was officially signed by Kanishal Kataria, the joint secretary to the Rajasthan government.

Ravi Prakash Meharda, a distinguished 1990-batch IPS officer, has accepted the additional role of Director General of Police (DGP) in Rajasthan.

Recognized for his keen administrative skills, Meharda has previously held positions as IG of Kota and DIG in the CRPF.

Currently, he is serving as the Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Rajasthan.

With this new role, Dr. Meharda is now tasked with the vital responsibilities of ensuring law and order, controlling crime, and advancing police modernization throughout the state.

Earlier this month, IPS officer Anand Srivastava was elevated to the Director General cadre, filling a void left by the retirement of Hemant Priyadarshi. The former DGP, Utkal Ranjan Sahoo, was appointed as the new chairman of the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) on Tuesday, according to an official order from Governor Haribhau Bagde.

With this transition, the DGP position in Rajasthan has become vacant. U.R. Sahoo, an IPS officer of the 1988 batch from Odisha, is esteemed for his integrity and transparent reputation.

He assumed the role of DGP of Rajasthan on February 11, 2024, and has now accepted a new administrative challenge. The position of RPSC chairman had been unoccupied since August 1, 2024, after the conclusion of Sanjay Shrotriya’s term.

As a result, Kailashchand Meena, a member of the commission, has been acting as the interim chairman. After a hiatus of 10 months, a permanent chairman has finally been designated. According to regulations, the RPSC chairman can serve until reaching the age of 62.

U.R. Sahoo, born on June 20, 1964, is currently 61 and is expected to hold the position until June 2026.
