Chandigarh, Jan 24 (NationPress) - State BJP Working President Ashwani Sharma has claimed that RDX was utilized in a recent explosion close to the railway station in Sirhind, located in Punjab's Fatehgarh Sahib district. On Saturday, Sharma expressed his discontent with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, accusing them of creating an atmosphere of fear and insecurity in the state.
The explosion resulted in injuries to the driver of a goods train and caused damage to railway property; fortunately, there were no fatalities reported.
The incident occurred on a railway line designated for Amritsar-Delhi goods trains on Friday night, coinciding with the passage of a goods train.
Sharma criticized the AAP government, stating that the blast, occurring just days before Republic Day, highlighted severe lapses in security and the inadequacy of state administration.
"Law and order is not an advertising campaign; it's a constitutional responsibility of the government. Unfortunately, the Mann government has failed to fulfill this duty," he remarked.
He further alleged that gangsterism is rampant in Punjab, drugs are ruining the youth, and the general populace feels endangered.
"Instead of implementing stringent measures, the state government prefers to remain focused on advertisements and hollow claims," Sharma asserted.
He urged the Punjab government to immediately ensure accountability, initiate a high-level inquiry, and take the strictest actions against those responsible.
Sharma emphasized, "If swift action is not taken regarding law and order, the BJP will raise this issue at every possible platform."
In parallel, State Congress Chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring denounced the explosion, labeling it a clear indication of the state government and police's failures.
"This is a troubling sign and bodes poorly for Punjab," he stated.
Warring noted that the Congress party has consistently warned the AAP government about the risks to peace and law enforcement in the state.
"The citizens are already living in fear of gangsters, and now the threat of blasts brings back painful memories of Punjab's dark times," he added, highlighting the use of RDX in the explosion as evidence that the perpetrators had sinister plans.
He affirmed that only the Congress party possesses the capability to protect the lives and property of the people, given its established record.
"I assure everyone that we will not permit anyone to drag Punjab back into darkness," Warring concluded.
