New Delhi, Nov 21 (NationPress) In light of the Red Fort explosion that occurred on November 10, Chandni Chowk MP Praveen Khandelwal (BJP) convened a meeting with local traders and the Delhi Police to discuss enhanced security protocols in the bustling Old Delhi region, as reported by a BJP official.
The group, led by Khandelwal, engaged with North Delhi's Deputy Commissioner of Police, Raja Banthia, and other law enforcement representatives to strategize on improving security measures without hindering the traders' business operations.
The talks centered on implementing new initiatives to bolster safety in the densely populated area, addressing concerns such as illegal encroachments, rickshaw issues, and traffic bottlenecks, according to a statement from the Delhi BJP.
Attendees included Chandni Chowk District BJP President Arvind Garg, Delhi BJP Spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor, and other prominent trade figures from Chandni Chowk and Old Delhi, like Suresh Bindal, Gopal Garg, Subhash Goyal, Ashish Grover, Shribhagwan Bansal, Pradeep Mittal, Baldev Gupta, Vijay Gupta, Abhishek Ganeriwal, Ganga Bishan Gupta, Ajay Sharma, Rajiv Batra, Manish Verma, and Sanjay Nagpal.
DCP Banthia and Public Works Department officials assured that the traders' concerns would be addressed promptly.
Khandelwal committed on behalf of the traders to eliminate encroachments near their businesses and to hire security personnel for the markets.
He urged the DCP to facilitate police verification, training, and administrative support for the security staff appointed by the traders.
The security protocols in Chandni Chowk are undergoing a thorough review following the November 10 terrorist attack that claimed the lives of over ten individuals, stated an official.
This initiative by the BJP MP coincides with the party's preparations for the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib near the Red Fort.
