Chitradurga (Karnataka), Dec 10 (NationPress) In a concerning turn of events, the samadhi of Renukaswamy -- the fan who was reportedly murdered by Kannada actor Darshan and his associates -- has been discovered vandalised at a burial site in Chitradurga district. This incident was reported on Wednesday.
The granite nameplate on the samadhi, which featured Renukaswamy’s name alongside his birth and death dates, has been shattered, and portions of the structure appear to be damaged. The vandalism took place at the Jogimatti burial ground in Chitradurga city. Authorities have stated that the timeline of the damage remains uncertain.
Family members expressed they were unaware of the incident until they were informed. Initial investigations suggest the damage might have happened during the construction of a new layout nearby, although police are also examining the possibility of intentional vandalism by miscreants. Sources have indicated that the vandalism may have occurred as early as September 14.
This incident has raised local concerns, prompting the police to initiate a comprehensive investigation.
Renukaswamy, a resident of Chitradurga, was allegedly kidnapped and murdered on June 11, 2024. Kannada superstar Darshan, his partner Pavithra Gowda, and 15 others were taken into custody related to this case.
Authorities claim Renukaswamy had sent inappropriate and obscene messages to Pavithra Gowda, expressing his discontent over Darshan’s relationship with her despite his marriage.
Previously, Darshan was moved to Ballari prison after reports emerged suggesting he was receiving “royal treatment” inside Bengaluru Central Prison. He currently faces three FIRs associated with the case.
On September 4, 2024, police submitted a 3,991-page charge sheet along with an additional charge sheet to the court. After spending 131 days in custody, Darshan was granted bail on October 30, 2024. However, following an appeal from Karnataka Police, the Supreme Court revoked the bail, resulting in the re-arrest of Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, and the other accused.
A local court in Karnataka has since framed charges against Darshan, Pavithra, and the 15 co-accused in this high-profile case. All defendants have denied the charges.
Darshan is charged under IPC Section 302 for murder, Section 355 for causing grievous injuries, Section 120B for criminal conspiracy, Section 204 for destruction of evidence, and Section 359 for kidnapping. He also faces charges under Sections 143, 147, 148, and 149 regarding unlawful assembly and related offences.
