Is Revanth Reddy the Most Incompetent CM in India's History?

Hyderabad, May 6 (NationPress) K. T. Rama Rao, the working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), strongly criticized Telangana's Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday for declaring that the state is financially bankrupt. He labeled Revanth Reddy as the most incompetent and inefficient Chief Minister in the history of independent India.

Rama Rao addressed the media, accusing Revanth Reddy of maligning the state's reputation to protect himself. He asserted that if Revanth Reddy is incapable of governing the state, he should resign.

The BRS leader's comments came in response to the Chief Minister's claims that the state is unable to secure loans due to its financial woes.

Rama Rao further accused Revanth Reddy of neglecting his duties as the head of the state, emphasizing that no previous Chief Minister had ever made such pessimistic declarations.

Known popularly as KTR, the BRS leader contended that Revanth Reddy deliberately attempted to undermine the state's financial standing to evade responsibility for unmet electoral promises.

He insisted that while BRS members can endure personal insults, they will not permit Revanth Reddy to defame Telangana's image.

KTR pointed out that government employees are urging the Congress government to fulfill its obligations. He noted, “The government employees are not making any unfair demands, yet the Chief Minister is trying to paint them as antagonists before the public.”

He accused the Congress government of being both intellectually and morally bankrupt, seeking trivial justifications to dodge its election commitments.

KTR dismissed the Congress manifesto as a fraudulent document, asserting that the party made unrealistic promises without anticipating a victory. Now that they have won, he claimed, Congress leaders are looking for excuses.

He criticized the Congress government for spending on the Miss World beauty pageant while claiming that the state is bankrupt. “This administration has allocated Rs 250 crore for a beauty contest but claims it lacks funds for pensions and retirement benefits for former employees,” he stated.

In response to government employees planning protests for their long-standing demands, the Chief Minister remarked that even if they were to cut him, there wouldn’t be funds available to meet their needs.

KTR labeled Revanth Reddy’s remarks as not just irresponsible but also unforgivable. He maintained that Telangana's finances are sound, while the Congress leadership suffers from intellectual and moral decay.

He reminded everyone that Revanth Reddy was previously embroiled in a cash-for-vote scandal, stating that it is unreasonable to expect respect for individuals with a criminal background, suggesting that banks might also be reluctant to deal with him due to his past.

The BRS working president criticized Revanth Reddy for misleading the public regarding the debts accrued during BRS governance. “On the day he took his oath, he claimed the BRS government left a debt of Rs 6 lakh crore, but now he states it's Rs 8.29 lakh crore,” KTR explained, asserting that the genuine debt attributed to the BRS government is merely Rs 4.17 lakh crore.

He highlighted that the Central government has clarified in Parliament that Telangana ranks 24th out of 28 states in terms of the debt-to-GSDP ratio.

KTR asserted that during its decade-long administration, the BRS borrowed responsibly to enhance infrastructure and irrigation assets, while accusing Congress of taking Rs 1.7 lakh crore in 16 months without completing any projects.

He countered the Chief Minister’s claims of financial bankruptcy by presenting data indicating that Telangana's financial condition is robust. “When Telangana was established in 2014, the revenue was Rs 51,000 crore. By 2023-24, it surged to Rs 2.16 lakh crore,” he elaborated, adding that the state had a revenue surplus of Rs 4,882 crore last year. Citing the RBI, he stated that Telangana's monthly debt servicing stands at around Rs 2,000 crore, not Rs 10,000 crore as claimed by the Chief Minister.

KTR accused Revanth Reddy of dishonesty regarding his travel arrangements, asserting that the Chief Minister has made 43 trips to Delhi using chartered flights. “His Ministers are utilizing helicopters for short distances, treating them as if they are sharing auto-rickshaws,” he concluded.
