New Delhi, Oct 30 (NationPress) Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has criticized the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha (LoP), Rahul Gandhi, for his provocative statement suggesting that "if you request PM Modi to dance for your votes, he will comply." Rijiju emphasized that no responsible political figure should resort to such language.

In his remarks to IANS, Rijiju stated, "It has come to my attention that Rahul Gandhi has once again made comments regarding the Prime Minister that have caused embarrassment even within the Congress party. The language he chose has inflicted significant harm on his own party. Even respectable members of Congress feel humiliated, as no responsible leader should speak in this manner."

"The electorate in Bihar will not support them, and they will not gain power. They lack ideology and speak in such a fashion. How can the nation trust such leaders?" he continued.

Gandhi, during an election rally in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, had launched a strong critique of Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, accusing them of deceiving the youth and turning governance into a "political theatre."

He further mocked the Prime Minister’s symbolic ‘Yamuna bath’ during Chhath Puja, labeling it a staged photo opportunity.

"There was no Yamuna ji present — merely a pond filled with clean water for Modi ji. Clean water was piped in for his photo-op while the true India suffers in polluted waters," Gandhi remarked.

"If you ask Modi ji to dance for your vote, he will do it. Try it—say, ‘Modi ji, skip the speeches, just dance, and we’ll vote for you.’ He will dance," the Congress leader asserted.

Gandhi also accused the BJP of avoiding the caste census and opposing social justice.

"I questioned the Prime Minister in Parliament about conducting a caste census. He remained silent. Every sector—education, health, bureaucracy, or judiciary—the BJP stands against social justice. However, a caste census will occur, regardless of their stance," he stated.

In response, Union Minister Giriraj Singh claimed that Gandhi’s statements insulted Sanatan Dharma and the beliefs of millions of Hindus.

"Rahul Gandhi himself seems confused about whether he is a Parsi, Christian, or Hindu. His comments regarding Chhath and the Prime Minister are an affront to Sanatan Dharma and Hindus. The people of Bihar will respond appropriately," Singh remarked.

He further warned that mocking religious customs would not be tolerated.

"We will not accept insults to Chhath and Sanatan Dharma. The people will respond with a stone for a brick," Singh concluded.

Point of View

It is crucial to highlight that political discourse should maintain a level of respect and responsibility. The comments made by both leaders reflect ongoing tensions in Indian politics, and it is vital for public figures to engage in constructive dialogue rather than resorting to disparaging remarks.
