New Delhi, May 24 (NationPress) The Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Jyotiraditya Scindia, announced on Saturday that the Rising Northeast summit has successfully attracted an impressive investment of Rs 4.3 lakh crore. This milestone marks the beginning of a significant journey aimed at reinforcing the North Eastern Region (NER) and positioning it as a vital driver of India's advancement.
While speaking at the Rising Northeast Investors Summit, he noted that a delegation representing 80 countries took part in the event. He emphasized that the acronym NER has evolved, now symbolizing the New Economic Revolution of India and the New Economic Revival of India.
Scindia clarified that this investment does not account for the 'Advantage Assam 2.0' initiative.
Reflecting on the region's historical neglect since Independence, he recalled that 25 years ago, former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee predicted that India's ascent in the new millennium would originate from no other place but the Northeast.
He expressed gratitude, stating, "The seeds sown by former PM Vajpayee during a global conference in Shillong in 2000 have flourished into a vast banyan tree under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with the 'Rising Northeast' being one of its fruitful outcomes."
Scindia noted, "From being among the 11 largest economies, we have now emerged as the fourth largest economy."
He expressed confidence that under PM Modi's leadership, India will shine like a nakshatra (constellation) on the global platform.
