Patna, Feb 16 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, is preparing for a visit to Delhi, where he is anticipated to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In response to this forthcoming event, RJD MP Sanjay Yadav emphasized the importance of this meeting for addressing the state's developmental challenges.
In an interview with IANS, the Rajya Sabha MP asserted that during this encounter, Nitish Kumar must bring up critical issues affecting Bihar.
Sanjay Yadav remarked, "The Chief Minister should approach Prime Minister Modi, but he must inquire about the budget allocations for Bihar. What has happened regarding the Rs 1.65 lakh crore special package that PM Modi announced during the 2015 elections in Arrah? Over the past 11 years, what benefits has Bihar gained from the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana?"
He also pointed out the pressing issues of unemployment and migration in Bihar, stating, "Bihar experiences the highest rate of migration. What measures has the government implemented to address this? Bihar’s farmers have the lowest earnings in the nation; what initiatives have been taken to enhance their conditions? Bihar's literacy rate is among the lowest; what strategies does the government propose to rectify this?" Referencing the Niti Aayog report, he stated that Bihar ranks at the bottom of the Sustainable Development Index, underscoring the need for special financial support.
The RJD Rajya Sabha member further urged Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to request special state status for Bihar during his discussion with the Prime Minister.
He also highlighted the necessity of a caste-based census and proposed that Nitish Kumar should ask the Prime Minister to conduct a nationwide census to ensure that the backward classes in Bihar receive their rightful benefits in terms of reservations.
Sanjay Yadav reminisced about the time when Tejashwi Yadav's administration raised reservations to 65 percent, suggesting this should be enshrined in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution so that Bihar's 90 percent backward, Dalit, and extremely backward populations can benefit.
He implored the Chief Minister to bring up the crucial topics of Bihar's development, unemployment, poverty, and other significant issues with the Prime Minister during their meeting. He called for a special economic package for Bihar to enhance the state’s economic landscape.
