Patna, Sep 30 (NationPress) Following the release of the final voter list for Bihar by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday, RJD spokesperson Chittaranjan Gagan indicated that the party will provide an official statement only after conducting a thorough verification.
“District election officers throughout Bihar have distributed copies of the final list to all our district party heads. The RJD intends to issue an official response only after confirming the final voter list at the grassroots level via our Block Level Agents (BLAs), booths, and panchayat units,” Gagan noted.
He mentioned that if any valid voters are missing from the list, the party will utilize the Supreme Court-mandated process to request corrections.
“If necessary, we will reach out to the Supreme Court again, despite today’s release. The RJD appreciates the Supreme Court's intervention, which prevented a conspiracy aimed at removing numerous names and introducing fictitious voters,” Gagan stated.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) published the final voter list for Bihar following a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) on Tuesday.
Official figures reveal that the final list now includes 7.42 crore voters, an increase from 7.24 crore in the draft list released on August 1, 2025.
This revision process saw the addition of 21.53 lakh new voters while removing 3.66 lakh entries, primarily due to reasons like duplicate registrations, deaths, and relocations.
In response to the publication, JDU MLC and chief spokesperson Neeraj Kumar criticized the opposition for their previous claims of vote theft.
“The Election Commission of India is a constitutional entity. During the initiation of the Special Intensive Revision, opposition figures like Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav accused the ECI of ‘Vote Chori.’ However, following the final release, over 18 lakh voters have been added to the list. The publication of the final voter list is a significant rebuttal to their claims. They have now been rendered silent,” Neeraj Kumar asserted.
The ECI has encouraged citizens to verify their names and details on the official portal voters.eci.gov.in.
Additionally, the Commission has permitted new applications for inclusion, corrections, and address changes for those who were omitted from the final list.
