New Delhi, June 24 (NationPress) Four individuals were detained for brutally attacking a pastry shop owner during a road rage episode in Pandav Nagar, East Delhi, and subsequently fleeing in his car to Uttarakhand, as reported by a Delhi Police official on Tuesday.

The victim, Vinod Sharma, aged 53, was assaulted by the group around 9 P.M. on June 20 after his vehicle accidentally brushed against theirs.

A heated exchange escalated, leading to the men physically assaulting the businessman before stealing his car and driving off to Haridwar.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (East), Abhishek Dhania, the suspects were identified as Himanshu, Sunny, Shahan-e-Alam, and Tanuj.

DCP Dhania stated, “Following the incident, we utilized both technical and local surveillance to locate the vehicle in Haridwar and apprehend the suspects after setting traps at four distinct locations.”

“Upon arriving at the scene, Sharma was transported for medical treatment, and the entire route taken by the assailants to steal his vehicle was traced using CCTV footage and technological resources,” he added.

“Our investigation revealed that the suspects drove through Ghazipur Khadar, Ghaziabad, Muzaffarnagar, and eventually to Haridwar,” said DCP Dhania.

“With the assistance of the Uttarakhand Police, we discovered the stolen vehicle parked in a lot in Haridwar,” he mentioned.

One of the suspects, Himanshu, was captured on June 21 in East Delhi. His interrogation led to the establishment of traps at 15 locations including Haridwar, Muzaffarnagar, Ghaziabad, and Ghazipur for the remaining suspects,” he explained.

“On Monday, our efforts bore fruit, resulting in the arrest of two suspects, Sunny and Shahan-e-Alam,” DCP Dhania said.

The fourth suspect, Tanuj, was not present during the road rage episode but has been apprehended on charges of criminal conspiracy for aiding the others in escaping with the stolen vehicle, according to the DCP.

He confirmed that the stolen vehicle has been located, and steps are underway to return it to the original owner.

The suspects face charges related to the use of criminal force, assault, conspiracy, and theft, as stated by a police officer.
