New Delhi, Oct 14 (NationPress) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized on Tuesday that robust and credible data is crucial for measuring advancements in vital sectors like agriculture, industry, health, and education, while assuring ongoing institutional backing for all statistical efforts within the state.
A high-level conference took place between the Chief Minister and Professor Rajiva Laxman Karandikar, Chairman of the National Statistical Commission (NSC), along with other officials, including Dr. Saurabh Garg, Secretary of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) and Member Secretary of the NSC.
Adityanath welcomed the recommendations and expressed the state’s willingness to work closely with MoSPI and NSC.
The discussions aimed at fortifying Uttar Pradesh’s statistical framework to align with its ambition of achieving a one trillion-dollar economy.
The Chief Minister praised the cooperative efforts of MoSPI and NSC in enhancing data quality, especially in estimating State GDP, Consumer Price Index, employment indicators, and industrial statistics.
He also underscored the state government’s dedication to data-driven planning and real-time monitoring through initiatives such as the CM Dashboard and the One Trillion Economy Mission.
The NSC Chairman pointed out the vital role of reliable statistics in developing evidence-based public policy.
Karandikar reaffirmed NSC’s commitment to assist the state in methodological and technical domains like Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) estimation, price statistics, and survey design.
He highlighted that aligning the central and state statistical systems is essential for ensuring accuracy, comparability, and timeliness of data across all governance levels.
Dr. Garg emphasized the Ministry’s ongoing partnership with the state under the “Support for Statistical Strengthening (SSS)” Scheme.
He guaranteed that both technical and financial support will persist for Uttar Pradesh in developing modern statistical infrastructure, enhancing data management systems, and providing training and workshops for DES officials on emerging methodologies and technologies.
The meeting also highlighted the significance of utilizing administrative and alternative data sources, leveraging technology for real-time reporting, and adopting uniform standards consistent with the National Statistical System.
