Samastipur (Bihar), April 24 (NationPress) On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the inaugural 16-coach Namo Bharat Rapid Rail service connecting Bihar's Jayanagar with the capital, Patna, marking a substantial advancement in India's semi-high-speed rail infrastructure. The local community in Samastipur is filled with joy.

The event occurred during the National Panchayati Raj Day festivities in Bihar's Madhubani. In addition to this flagship train, the Prime Minister also launched the Amrit Bharat Express linking Saharsa to Mumbai, along with new passenger routes connecting Pipra and Saharsa, and Saharsa and Samastipur.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister observed a moment of silence for the victims of the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the loss of 26 lives.

This new Namo Bharat service is the first in India to feature 16 coaches, an upgrade from the previous 12-coach model launched last year on the Ahmedabad-Bhuj line. Railway officials mentioned that the expanded coach capacity is designed to accommodate the high demand for passenger services on this route, linking major towns such as Madhubani, Sakri, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Barauni, and Mokama to Patna.

The train has recently arrived in Samastipur, and passengers shared their enthusiasm with IANS.

One passenger, Shubham Karn, remarked: "This is an excellent train. The government has provided remarkable amenities. Now, it’s our responsibility to keep it clean. The centralized AC works wonderfully, and both the train and the restrooms are superb. Everything is exceptional. I’ve filmed my journey—it travels at 110 km/h across all segments. This is a significant achievement for Bihar."

Another traveler, Rajiv Kumar Mishra, expressed: "The rapid train represents a fantastic advancement, especially for the Maithili-speaking population. It’s commendable that Prime Minister Modi proceeded with the launch despite the unfortunate attack. I am grateful for this initiative."

Mishra, who works for the railways, stated: "The Prime Minister has provided Bihar with a train that matches his visionary outlook. This is the first rapid rail for our area. People can now reach Patna in just three hours for a fare of only Rs 200."
