Shillong, Aug 7 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad K. Sangma, reaffirmed on Thursday that the state government will place a significant emphasis on public consultation and achieving consensus before proceeding with any railway projects in the regions of Khasi Hills, Jaintia Hills, or Garo Hills.
In a statement to the media, CM Sangma highlighted the importance of railway connectivity for the long-term economic growth of the state, insisting that the concerns of local communities must be addressed through open dialogue and engagement.
"From an economic perspective, railways are vital for a hill state like Meghalaya. However, this is a sensitive issue with numerous concerns raised by the populace," the Chief Minister stated.
