Srinagar, Dec 1 (NationPress) The Lieutenant Governor (L-G) of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, stated on Monday that had Sardar Patel been responsible for the region, he would have guaranteed its total and irreversible integration into India.

The L-G participated in the "Sardar@150 Unity March (Padyatra)" in Vadodara, Gujarat.

This National Padyatra, which commenced at Sardar Patel's ancestral home in Karamsad, will traverse approximately 190 km over 11 days, concluding at the Statue of Unity on December 6.

Speaking at the event themed "Kashmir, Hyderabad and Sardar", L-G Sinha remarked that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel would have guaranteed the complete and irreversible unification of Jammu and Kashmir if he had managed its affairs.

He asserted, "The history of Jammu and Kashmir would have taken a different turn if Sardar Patel had been entrusted with its integration in 1947."

Despite not directly overseeing Jammu and Kashmir, Sardar Patel played a pivotal role in ensuring its status as an integral part of India.

Sardar Patel firmly stated from the outset that not an inch of Jammu and Kashmir would be surrendered to Pakistan.

He also opposed then-Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru's approach towards Jammu and Kashmir, particularly regarding the issue being taken to the United Nations.

L-G Sinha highlighted that in a public rally, Sardar Patel had unequivocally advocated for the complete integration of Jammu and Kashmir, and his decisive actions could have transformed the historical narrative.

In his address, L-G Sinha emphasized that Sardar Patel's vision of unity, along with his principles of equality and social justice, continue to influence the nation's development.

As a key figure in the formation of modern India, Sardar Patel embodies the nation's self-confidence, self-respect, and bravery. His values of integrity, decisiveness, and selfless service inspire the ongoing mission to construct a robust, self-reliant, and prosperous India.

L-G Sinha acknowledged the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in realizing Sardar Patel's aspirations.

He noted that with the abrogation of Article 370, PM Modi has unified the entire nation under the banner of "One Flag, One Constitution, and One Leader".

L-G Sinha pointed out various initiatives by Prime Minister Modi, including 'One Nation, One Tax', 'One Nation, One Ration Card', 'One Nation, One Health Card', 'One Nation, One Grid', 'National Education Policy', 'PM Gati Shakti', and 'Kashi-Tamil Sangamam', which have bolstered national unity.

He urged the youth to fortify the foundations of unity, stating, "The three essential pillars of unity are shared values, shared identity, and a common purpose, which act as a cohesive force for sustained progress and development."
