New Delhi, Nov 29 (NationPress) During the ‘Sardar @150 Unity March’ in Vadodara on Saturday, Union Minister J.P. Nadda offered a heartfelt tribute to Vallabhbhai Patel, referring to him as “the architect of modern India”. He asserted that the contemporary India we witness today is deeply rooted in Patel's extraordinary efforts in nation-building.

Nadda emphasized that while Sardar Patel is often celebrated as a national figure, his most significant contribution was the unification of the nation.

“He transformed the vision of our ancient civilization into reality in just two years. Patel laid the groundwork for a Viksit Bharat,” he stated.

Recalling Patel's personal sacrifices, Nadda noted that despite being a successful barrister in Ahmedabad, he chose to abandon his comfortable life in response to Mahatma Gandhi’s call.

“His life was dedicated entirely to the welfare of the public. Whether participating in a movement or a satyagraha, he consistently stood alongside farmers,” Nadda added, highlighting Patel's moral fortitude and administrative prowess, which were pivotal during the freedom struggle.

Nadda underscored Patel’s monumental role in integrating 562 princely states post-Independence, branding it as an extraordinary accomplishment.

“This was no minor achievement. Through dialogue, persuasion, or decisive action, Patel ensured the states joined India,” he remarked.

Contrasting Patel’s methodology with Jawaharlal Nehru’s handling of Jammu & Kashmir, Nadda reiterated the BJP’s longstanding critique.

He indicated that Nehru’s decision regarding Kashmir led to Article 370, which became a “festering sore” for national unity. “Patel even persuaded Maharaja Hari Singh to join India, but Nehru created the hindrance of Article 370,” he asserted.

Nadda concluded by stating that the BJP government has realized Patel’s unfinished mission by abolishing Article 370.

“The determination of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the strategy of Home Minister Amit Shah culminated in the removal of Article 370 on August 5, 2020, fully integrating Jammu and Kashmir,” he stated.

“The India we envision today, a robust, united, Viksit Bharat, is only achievable due to Vallabhbhai Patel,” he affirmed.
