Kolkata, July 15 (NationPress) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has accused the Trinamool Congress of intentionally misrepresenting his recent remarks regarding the Assam government's position on illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators, framing him as adopting an “anti-Bengali” perspective.

In a statement released on Tuesday and shared via his official X handle, Sarma claimed that the ruling party in West Bengal is engaging in such distortion to provide cover for Muslim infiltrators from Bangladesh.

“Assam has been engaged in a determined battle against the illegal infiltration of Bangladeshi Muslims for numerous years. The latest effort by the @AITCofficial to twist my media statements and depict our stance as anti-Bengali is merely a desperate strategy to protect Muslim infiltrators from Bangladesh, whose presence poses a threat to the demographic integrity of our nation,” the Assam Chief Minister stated.

He emphasized that all Indian citizens living in Assam, including Bengali-speaking individuals, are well aware of the Assam government's position on illegal infiltration. “Let it be absolutely clear: in Assam, every Indian citizen—including Bengali-speaking people—understands our position and stands firmly against illegal Muslim immigration from Bangladesh,” added Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, shared Sarma's statement on his own X handle, asserting that while the Assam Chief Minister is courageously addressing illegal infiltration of Bangladeshi Muslims, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is shamefully relying on these infiltrators and aiding their enrollment in the voter list in West Bengal.

Adhikari further stated that the Trinamool Congress is intentionally fostering this situation, as its political survival heavily relies on these illegal infiltrators.

He concluded by stating that every Indian-Bengali supports the Assam Chief Minister's efforts to combat illegal infiltration from Bangladesh.
