Kolkata, April 18 (NationPress) Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, asserted during an election rally in Kalimpong that the Trinamool Congress has allocated properties for Bangladeshi Muslims, emphasizing that this is reason enough for Mamata Banerjee to be ousted from her position.
The Bharatiya Janata Party has made the issue of infiltration a central theme in its campaign against the Trinamool Congress in this Assembly election.
Sarma stated, "Mamata didi has paved the way for Bangladeshi Muslims to settle in West Bengal. For this reason, she must be removed from office. If not, one day we might lose West Bengal to them entirely. There will be nothing left for us."
The Assam Chief Minister claimed that while the BJP government prevents Bangladeshis from entering Assam, the West Bengal government is facilitating such infiltration.
He added, "Mamata Banerjee has a cordial relationship with Bangladeshi Muslims. She invites those who have entered illegally to come, but with a condition: they must vote for Trinamool. In return, they expect to claim rights over Bengal's land. Mamataji is effectively selling off our homeland."
He also criticized the Mamata Banerjee administration for corruption.
Sarma remarked, "This time, the BJP is projecting to secure 100 seats in Assam and 200 in Bengal. This administration is not about the motherland or its people; it is about a regime of ‘money, murder, and mafia’. Extensive corruption has marred the teacher recruitment process here. In Assam, we have successfully hired two lakh teachers without any police or court cases. Wherever Trinamool is involved, money laundering and corruption abound."
The Chief Minister further compared the Bodoland Territorial Administration with the Gorkha Territorial Administration, assuring that should the BJP come to power, it would seek a constitutional resolution to the Gorkhaland issue in north Bengal.
Sarma held a public meeting supporting Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Bharat Chhetri, a former Indian hockey team captain, at the Pandara ground in the Gorubathan block of Kalimpong district, highlighting the valor of the Gorkhas.
