Aluva, April 10 (NationPress) Radiating optimism after labeling the United Democratic Front’s (UDF) campaign as the most vigorous in over 30 years, the Opposition Leader, V.D. Satheesan, confidently declared on Friday that the coalition is set to surpass the 100-seat threshold in the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections, buoyed by solid political groundwork and a palpable anti-incumbency sentiment against the ruling LDF.

Satheesan highlighted that Kerala has achieved one of the highest voter turnouts nationwide, suggesting that participation could have been even higher if expatriates and students overseas had been granted the right to vote.

“This has been the most organized and spirited campaign by the UDF in 35 years. Groups that have abstained since 2005 are re-engaging, and this shift will be evident in the election outcomes,” he stated.

He pointed out that the UDF’s forecasts are based on thorough analysis and historical performance, citing consistent advancements in bye-elections, local body elections, and parliamentary contests.

After assuming office, the Opposition undertook a comprehensive evaluation and worked diligently to enhance its organizational capabilities, leading to significant local victories that are expected to culminate in an Assembly win.

Satheesan expressed confidence in achieving a clean sweep in Ernakulam, Malappuram, Wayanad, Idukki, and Pathanamthitta, which together comprise 43 seats.

“The increase in voter turnout has only bolstered our confidence,” he remarked.

Directing criticism at the ruling front, he alleged a “silent agreement” between the CPI(M) and the BJP, claiming this has been “exposed.”

He also condemned the “inhumane” media treatment of senior Congress leader K. Sudhakaran, calling for introspection within media circles.

Emphasizing the anti-incumbency wave, Satheesan noted that the UDF has developed sector-specific alternatives in areas where the government has faltered over the past three years.

“There is a distinct UDF wave sweeping across the state,” he asserted.

Criticizing ministers, he claimed many have become insular within their constituencies, a shift from previous elections.

Additionally, he dismissed recent discussions within the LDF regarding alternative leadership, including the possibility of a female or younger Chief Minister, interpreting this as an acknowledgment of impending defeat.

“They campaigned under the banner of ‘Pinarayi 3’; the change in narrative underscores their uncertainty,” he stated.

Alleging widespread misuse of government resources, Satheesan claimed that crores have been spent on promotional activities, including Rs 15 crore allocated for social media campaigns.

“Kerala has never witnessed such extensive use of state machinery during elections before,” he added.
