New Delhi, May 9 (NationPress) Major banks in India, notably State Bank of India and Punjab National Bank, have confirmed that their ATMs and digital services are fully operational, ensuring that all banking operations are running without any issues.
This confirmation comes in light of misleading reports circulating on social media that suggested potential shutdowns of ATMs due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.
The State Bank of India reassured its customers via a post on X, stating, "All our ATMs, CDMs/ADWMs, and digital services are readily available for public use." They encouraged customers to avoid relying on unverified information.
Similarly, Punjab National Bank declared, "All our digital services are functioning effectively, providing a seamless banking experience from home."
Other banks, including Canara Bank, Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, and Punjab and Sindh Bank, have echoed these sentiments.
Additionally, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to conduct a review meeting later today concerning the cybersecurity readiness of banks and financial institutions.
On another note, Indian Oil has assured the public of sufficient fuel supplies nationwide, stating that their supply chains are operating seamlessly.
They urged citizens to refrain from panic buying, emphasizing that fuel and LPG are readily accessible at all outlets, saying, "Help us serve you better by staying calm and avoiding unnecessary rush. This will keep our supply lines running smoothly, ensuring uninterrupted fuel access for everyone."
The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), representing 90 million traders, also reassured that there is no shortage of foodgrains or essential items in the country. They emphasized that all commodities are abundantly available and the government holds adequate reserves, negating the need for hoarding or stockpiling goods. They vowed to maintain the supply chain as they did during the Covid period, ensuring delivery of essentials to people's doorsteps if necessary.
CAIT Secretary General and Member of Parliament from Delhi’s Chandni Chowk, Praveen Khandelwal, affirmed that traders will adhere strictly to all government advisories, leaving no room for panic, rumors, or unrest.
"Just as our brave soldiers protect the borders, the nation’s traders are committed to serving as economic soldiers, ensuring that the country's supply chain remains uninterrupted in all circumstances," he added.
