Jammu, March 14 (NationPress) A significant search operation commenced on Saturday in the forward regions of Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district following the incursion of a Pakistani drone across the International Border into Indian territory.

According to officials, "A large-scale search effort was initiated by security personnel today across several forward villages in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district after a Pakistani drone crossed the International Border into our territory.

“The movement of the hostile drone was observed briefly over the villages of Kandral, Abtal, and Bahadurpur within the Ramgarh sector late Friday night."

“The area has been placed under strict monitoring, and a thorough search operation was launched at dawn to prevent any potential aerial drop of weapons or narcotics from across the border,” they added.

Jammu and Kashmir is bordered by a 740-km-long Line of Control (LoC) and a 240-km-long International Border with India. The LoC is guarded by the Indian Army and runs through Kupwara, Bandipora, Baramulla, and parts of Poonch, Rajouri, and Jammu districts.

The International Border is secured by the Border Security Force (BSF) and is located in the Samba, Kathua, and Jammu districts of Jammu division.

Both the Army and the BSF are deployed to thwart infiltration, exfiltration, drug trafficking, and drone activities originating from the Pakistan side of the border.

Drones are utilized by terrorist groups, aided by Pakistan’s ISI, to deliver arms, ammunition, drugs, and cash, which are crucial for sustaining terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.

The payloads from these drones are retrieved by overground workers (OGWs) associated with the terrorist organizations, who then deliver them to militants.

The Indian Army and the BSF have implemented advanced anti-drone technology along the LoC and the International Border. Following the deployment of this sophisticated anti-drone equipment, incidents of drone incursions have diminished significantly in Jammu and Kashmir.

Point of View

The situation underscores the ongoing challenges faced by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir. The proactive measures taken in response to the drone incursion highlight the need for vigilance and preparedness in safeguarding national security.
