Did Seeman Really Owe His Political Birth to Tamil Soil?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chennai, Dec 27 (NationPress) Seeman, the chief coordinator of Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK), launched a fierce critique of the BJP on Saturday, declaring that his political origins are tied to the Tamil soil rather than any national party.
While addressing the party’s General Council meeting at Thiruverkkadu near Chennai, Seeman asserted that the attempts to label him as a product of the BJP were politically motivated and unfounded.
“There are claims that the BJP created me. I pose a question: when I came into being, was Thirumavalavan or anyone else present? I am of this soil. I belong to this land,” he stated, countering allegations from various leaders, including renowned Dalit leader and MP Thol Thirumavalavan, that the BJP had a hand in his rise.
During the meeting, Seeman revealed that the party adopted 26 resolutions, including demands to append “Tamil Nadu” to all State Transport Corporations, enforce total prohibition, and seek exemption from the NEET examination.
He emphasized that these demands were representative of the people's aspirations, not mere political maneuvering.
Prior to the public meeting, Seeman remarked that the NTK was not established just to hear the grievances of the people but to actively address and resolve them.
“We are not here to engage in endless contemplation; we exist to take action and provide solutions,” he stated.
He criticized both the ruling and opposition parties for making hollow promises during elections but neglecting vital issues once in power.
Pointing out the shortcomings of mainstream political parties, he remarked, “You have governed the state, and you have also been in opposition. Now, you traverse from constituency to constituency, pledging to resolve people’s issues. If that were true, what were you doing all these years?”
Seeman reaffirmed that his party's aim is to secure victory in all 234 Assembly seats and establish a governance model based on justice and self-respect.
He criticized welfare schemes that primarily focus on distributing free goods, asserting that true development lies in creating sustainable job opportunities and upholding the dignity of labor.
Regarding welfare expenditure, he said, “You speak of allocating Rs 950 crore for women’s welfare. But how much would it cost to make nurses, cleaners, and teachers permanent employees? Genuine empowerment lies there.”
In response to accusations labeling him as a supporter of the BJP or RSS, Seeman stated that such tags were intended to undermine his credibility.
“If slandering me could define my identity, it would have been done long ago. No one funds my endeavors. This movement is sustained by the contributions of the people, devoid of corporate or political support,” he asserted.
The NTK leader concluded by reiterating his party’s commitment to forming a governance model anchored in Tamil identity, dignity, and self-sufficiency.
