This district-wide initiative, which began on May 1, 2025, is designed to track down and return stolen devices to their rightful owners through a combination of coordinated surveillance, data analysis, and targeted operations.
According to police reports, the recoveries were achieved utilizing a mix of technical surveillance, IMEI tracking, call detail record analysis, and real-time data monitoring.
The dedicated Technical Surveillance Team, consisting of ASI Deepak Kumar, HC Gagan Deep, HC Tejveer Singh, and HC Manoj Kumar, played a pivotal role in pinpointing active stolen devices across Delhi and other states.
“Out of the total recovery of 625 mobile phones, 225 were tracked with the assistance of the CEIR portal from the Government of India. Following detailed CDR/IMEI analysis for each case, our team provided technical support to on-field teams, aiding in the tracking and recovery of mobile devices,” stated the Delhi Police in their press note.
Thirteen special teams from various police stations within the Shahdara district were assigned to field operations. Thanks to swift actions and persistent follow-ups, the teams from Seemapuri and GTB Enclave reported the highest recoveries, with 165 and 221 phones, respectively.
Other police stations, such as Farsh Bazar, Shahdara, Vivek Vihar, Anand Vihar, and Krishna Nagar, also made significant contributions to the overall total.
The recoveries spanned multiple states, with 526 mobile phones traced within Delhi, 90 in Uttar Pradesh, and additional recoveries in Bihar, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
The cases involved theft, snatching, robbery, house theft, and lost property, with the majority – 321 phones – classified as lost.
On December 8, 2025, a ceremony for returning recovered phones was held at the DCP office complex in Shahdara, where 45 recovered phones were handed back to their owners after legal procedures were completed. Similar events were previously conducted on June 26, September 17, and October 5, further emphasizing the district’s dedication to restoring public trust.
Officials confirmed that Operation Vishwas remains active, and more recoveries are anticipated as tracking efforts continue across various states.
