Amritsar, March 13 (NationPress) In an impressive achievement for the Amritsar Rural Police, approximately 300 lost and stolen mobile devices valued at nearly Rs 1.5 crore were returned to their original owners during a special distribution event led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Suhel Mir Khan.

This occasion marked the second mobile recovery ceremony held by the Amritsar Rural Police.

In an interview with IANS, SSP Suhel Mir Khan stated that a similar initiative took place earlier in January, resulting in the return of around 300 mobile phones to their owners.

“Today, once again, we have handed back nearly 300 mobile phones to their rightful owners. The total market value of these devices amounts to around Rs 1.5 crore,” he remarked.

The recovered phones varied in value, with some worth as little as Rs 15,000 and others as high as Rs 2 lakh. As per the SSP, the police cyber cell, CR help desk, and teams from various police stations collaborated to trace and recover the devices using advanced technical methods.

He noted that tracking these phones can often be challenging, as they may end up in other districts or even different states. However, the coordinated efforts and unwavering dedication of the police teams enabled the successful recovery of the devices.

SSP Khan emphasized that many individuals believe that once a mobile phone is lost, it is impossible to recover. “Today’s ceremony demonstrates that if a proper complaint is lodged with the police, the phone can indeed be traced and retrieved,” he stated.

He added that mobile phones frequently contain critical personal and professional data, with many individuals' businesses relying on them. Thus, the police take such complaints seriously and exert every effort to locate the devices.

In a public appeal, the SSP urged individuals to promptly report to the police if their mobile phone is lost or stolen.

“Should your mobile phone go missing, please contact the police without delay. It is our duty to trace it,” he said, highlighting that under community policing initiatives, the Punjab Police remains committed to offering enhanced services to the public and will continue these initiatives in the future.

Among the recipients was Amanpreet Kaur from Jalandhar. Speaking to IANS, she shared that her mobile phone had gone missing about 15 days ago but was successfully traced by the Amritsar Rural Police.

“I am overjoyed to have my phone returned today. Mobile phones hold essential data that individuals require. I am grateful to the police administration for quickly tracing my phone,” she expressed, thanking the police for their efforts.
