The recovered devices are estimated to have a total worth of approximately Rs 45 lakh. This operation was conducted by the Cyber Crime Police Station in collaboration with various local police cyber cell teams, utilizing the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal to locate the devices.
Authorities stated that this recovery is part of an ongoing initiative where 1,400 lost or stolen mobile phones have been located and returned to their owners to date. The devices were found not only in different areas within Jaunpur district but also in several other districts across Uttar Pradesh, including Azamgarh, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Lucknow, Kanpur, Ballia, Pratapgarh, and Bhadohi.
Moreover, some phones were traced and recovered from other states such as Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Bihar, and Rajasthan, highlighting the effective inter-state collaboration among law enforcement agencies.
The recovered mobile phones featured a variety of popular brands such as OnePlus, Vivo, Redmi, Oppo, Realme, Tecno, Poco, Nokia, and Samsung. Many beneficiaries expressed immense joy upon receiving their lost devices, commending the police for their swift and effective response.
In a statement to the media, SP City Ayush Srivastava encouraged citizens to promptly report any lost or stolen mobile phones to the nearest police station and to register complaints via the CEIR portal to facilitate quick tracking and recovery.
He also urged the public to stay vigilant and adopt necessary measures to prevent becoming victims of cybercrime, stressing the importance of public awareness in reducing such incidents.
