Mumbai, April 21 (NationPress) The Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) vigorously criticized the BJP-led MahaYuti government on Tuesday, labeling it as being “high on deceit” while turning a blind eye to the escalating drug crisis in Maharashtra, particularly in Mumbai.

In a fierce editorial featured in its publication, Saamana, the Thackeray faction contended that Maharashtra has become the epicenter of the nation’s largest drug operation, while the government has opted to be a “silent observer”.

“In Titwala, Thane district, law enforcement confiscated five thousand ecstasy pills valued at six crore rupees. During a chaotic music event at Nesco in Goregaon, attendees were seen openly using narcotics; tragically, two young men succumbed to overdoses. Earlier, the Mumbai police conducted a raid on a drug pill manufacturing facility near Dare village in Satara. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis allegedly suppressed the Satara case after the factory’s connections to various political figures came to light,” the editorial stated.

Amid this “unfettered drug trade”, the editorial also highlights incidents of sexual abuse against women by individuals affiliated with BJP ideologies, branding it a disgrace to the state’s reputation.

The focus then shifts to the recent failure of the Delimitation Bill in the Lok Sabha. The editorial describes the BJP's response as a “heart-wrenching lament”, questioning how the party can claim that the “female empowerment” (Nari Shakti) bill has been “murdered” when the Women’s Reservation Bill was legally established years prior.

“The Women’s Reservation Bill was passed in September 2023 with 454 votes and received presidential assent. The Conflict: On April 16, 2026, the central government issued a notification transforming the Women’s Reservation Bill into law. The Delimitation Bill was a ‘deceptive’ effort to diminish Lok Sabha seats in Southern states while augmenting them in Northern India to secure a lasting grip on power,” asserted the Thackeray group.

The Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena claimed that the BJP leadership is either caught up in their own narratives -- dubbing it “Udta BJP” -- or is in denial about the reality of the bill’s defeat.

“To acknowledge the truth demands courage; to deceive necessitates dishonesty. The BJP is lying from top to bottom,” it remarked.

The editorial concludes by indicating that the ongoing dispute over women’s reservation is just a precursor to a larger internal upheaval within the BJP. Observing this situation, it becomes clear: the BJP's intellect remains at a “foetal” stage. Discussions can resume once it matures!
