Mumbai, Oct 28 (NationPress) The political atmosphere in Maharashtra has intensified as Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray launched a fierce critique of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, labeling him an "anaconda" and claiming that the BJP is attempting to "consume Mumbai" through manipulative politics and unlawful land acquisitions.
Thackeray's comments followed a report from Saamna, the Shiv Sena UBT's official publication, which asserted that a new BJP office was constructed "at breakneck speed" by seizing land.
In a pointed analogy, Thackeray compared the BJP to a recently introduced anaconda at Mumbai's Jijamata Udyan, stating that the party's ambition to dominate Mumbai is insatiable.
Responding to Thackeray's accusations, leaders from the ruling Mahayuti coalition retaliated, charging him with "devouring Mumbai's resources" during his leadership.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde countered, asserting, "If we discuss the 'anaconda' remark, the person calling others an anaconda is the true anaconda. He wrapped himself around Mumbai's treasury. Anacondas are characterized by their unending hunger. He consumed Mumbai's wealth, and even seized numerous land parcels."
Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule also criticized the Shiv Sena (UBT) chief, likening him to a "python".
"Uddhav Thackeray has consumed Mumbai. He resembles a python, not just an ordinary snake. This snake lounges at home, sleeps all day, feasts continuously, and has devastated Mumbai. In contrast, Home Minister Amit Shah has worked tirelessly for the nation from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, fortifying India and combating terrorism," he articulated to journalists.
"For over 11 years, under Prime Minister Modi's guidance, he has played a crucial role in eliminating terrorists. Can anyone label such a person an anaconda? Pythons like Uddhav have wrecked Mumbai for 40 years. He couldn't even manage his own party effectively, leaving it in a weakened state while also jeopardizing Hindu interests," Bawankule added.
"He appears to have lost his mental equilibrium, particularly post-elections. He seeks to validate his leadership through disparaging remarks against Amit Shah and Devendra Fadnavis. Leadership is demonstrated through electoral success, not insults," he concluded.
Joining the fray, BJP MLA Ram Kadam also took a swipe at the former Maharashtra Chief Minister, remarking that Thackeray's statements reflect his "frustration and faltering mental health".
Speaking to IANS, Kadam stated, "Uddhav Thackeray has been deserted by everyone, and his recent remarks signify that his mental state is off. With no close relatives and ministers withdrawing from him, he resorts to unfounded comments."
"He lacks any substantial criticism. How can he disparage our Home Minister? Amit Shah earns respect through dedication, while Uddhav, a complacent individual who inherited politics, has been unable to maintain it," he added.
