Mumbai, Aug 11 (NationPress) Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut has called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah to offer credible updates regarding the whereabouts, safety, and health of former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, prior to escalating the situation to the Supreme Court.
The concern arises from the period spanning from July 21, the day former Vice President Dhankhar stepped down, up until now, with no information available about his location. In a letter to the Home Minister, Raut inquired, “Where is Dhankhar? How is his health? Is he safe?”
He elaborated, “There is an absence of clarity on these pressing issues. Several Rajya Sabha members have attempted to reach out to him but have been unsuccessful. The lack of communication with him or his staff raises significant alarms.”
“What exactly has transpired with our Vice President? Where is he? How is he? Is he safe? The nation deserves to know the truth about these questions,” stated Raut.
He also mentioned that speculation is circulating in Delhi suggesting that Dhankhar, the former Vice President, is confined to his residence and reportedly in an unsafe situation.
Raut indicated that some Rajya Sabha colleagues are even considering submitting a writ petition for Habeas Corpus in the Supreme Court, as members of the upper house are genuinely concerned about the former Vice President's status regarding safety and health.
Raut recalled that on July 21, the Parliament session commenced. At 11 a.m., Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar led the proceedings. During the session, he appeared normal and managed the session as expected.
“There was a verbal disagreement between him and the Leader of Opposition, Mallikarjun Kharge, after which the House proceedings were adjourned for the day. This indicates that the Chairman’s health was stable at that moment. However, after 6 p.m. that same day, it was announced that the Vice President had resigned from his position, citing health reasons. This revelation shocked everyone,” Raut remarked.
