Bengaluru, Feb 17 (NationPress) Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar stated on Monday that the Congress government is open to evaluating meaningful suggestions from Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw concerning various projects in the state.
During a media interaction near his residence in Sadashivanagar, Shivakumar addressed the Union Minister's comments regarding certain traffic-related initiatives in Bengaluru, stating: "I am unaware of the specifics of his statements. If he has provided constructive suggestions, we will take them into account. However, if there is any political motive behind it, we know how to manage that situation."
Union Minister Vaishnaw criticized the state government for its failure to enhance railway infrastructure, pointing out that the inadequate expertise at K-RIDE (Rail Infrastructure Development Company – Karnataka) is hindering the resolution of technical challenges associated with the suburban rail project.
Responding to Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka's claims that his rounds in Bengaluru were merely for publicity, Shivakumar remarked: "Previously, BJP Chief Ministers visited Bengaluru - was that solely for publicity? Back then, Ashoka would sit in his vehicle and survey the area."
"The BJP seems to exist solely for criticism. What other role do they fulfill? We are meeting our responsibilities. This is a large-scale project, and we are committed to its quality. Currently, roadwork is in progress for 150 km, with a budget of Rs 1,700 crore," he continued.
Shivakumar expressed the government’s intention to complete the project on schedule and plans to undertake additional projects in the future. "I have also consulted with local MLAs to gather their insights. Some projects are pending work orders. Additionally, we have initiated a Rs 600 crore project to enhance Bengaluru’s roads."
Regarding reports that funds for the Anna Bhagya rice scheme and Gruha Laxmi scheme have been delayed for several months, he stated: "Yes, the funds have not been received for the past three months, but we will arrange for them. We will honor our commitments."
On Cooperation Minister K.N. Rajanna's claim that he was misusing the AICC, Shivakumar replied, "This is not the right time for discussion. I am traveling to Kerala for a party event. Following that, I will convene with ministers in Rajasthan, accompanied by officials. I will address this matter upon my return."
