Belagavi (Karnataka), Dec 18 (NationPress) In the midst of a leadership struggle within the ruling Congress party, Karnataka BJP state President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra remarked on Thursday that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is an outgoing Chief Minister, indicating that this will be his final Assembly session.
Addressing reporters in Belagavi, Vijayendra, in response to a query, stated, “One must grasp the situation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at this juncture. He is indeed an outgoing Chief Minister. It remains uncertain when he will submit his resignation.”
“A close observation of how Chief Minister Siddaramaiah articulates his thoughts and engages in discussions reveals a sense of pity for him, as his time is limited. Given this scenario, we lack optimism regarding solutions to issues even after deliberations, since an outgoing Chief Minister is at the helm,” Vijayendra expressed.
“Nonetheless, I’ve consistently maintained that the duration of one’s tenure does not overshadow the impact of their contributions. We remain hopeful that, in his last Assembly session, he will make some strides towards the development of the North Karnataka region, a topic we’ve debated extensively,” he added.
“Under the prior BJP-led government led by former Chief Minister and BJP MP Basavaraj Bommai, 14 irrigation projects were authorized for the Belagavi district during a session held here. Although Cabinet and Finance Department approvals were granted, progress has stalled under the current administration,” he criticized.
“What can Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who has accomplished little in the past two and a half years, achieve in just two weeks?” Vijayendra questioned sarcastically.
When asked about allegations of land encroachment against Revenue Minister Krishna Byregowda, Vijayendra responded, “Serious accusations have surfaced against Minister Krishna Byregowda. As a Revenue Minister, can he assert ownership of land without proper documentation, claiming it belonged to his father and grandfather, thereby engaging in unlawful actions?”
“Is there any legal basis for this? This is a grave issue, and we intend to bring it to the House’s attention today,” he added.
Vijayendra further alleged, “Since the Congress party assumed power in Karnataka, they have been embroiled in corruption and diverting funds to the high command. Whenever Congress governs in Karnataka, the state resembles an ATM for the party. Just as numerous crores were misappropriated in the Valmiki Tribal Welfare scam, more scams are surfacing regularly.”
“To curry favor with the high command, collections are being made from contractors. A letter has even been penned by the President of the Contractors’ Association regarding this. Their sole agenda is to plunder the state, appease the high command, and maintain their grip on power,” he alleged.
In response to Vijayendra’s “outgoing CM” comment, Minister for Urban Development Byrathi Suresh, a close ally of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, stated, “Is Vijayendra attempting to forecast the future? He should first address issues within his own party. There are factions led by Leader of Opposition R. Ashoka and expelled BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, while Vijayendra himself heads another group. It is inappropriate for him to make unfounded statements.”
Former minister and Congress MLA K.N. Rajanna contested Vijayendra’s assertion, claiming that it is Vijayendra who is the outgoing BJP state president.
