Key Takeaways
Bagalkote (Karnataka), March 14 (NationPress) Addressing concerns regarding the supply of LPG cylinders, Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah emphasized that it is the Central government's duty to guarantee a consistent supply. He made these statements while interacting with the press at the Navanagar helipad in Bagalkote on Saturday.
The Chief Minister noted that the State government will distribute cylinders as soon as they are provided by the Centre, revealing that the State Food Minister has already conducted two meetings on this matter and has reached out to the Union Minister to implement measures that will prevent any shortages.
During his visit, CM Siddaramaiah also inaugurated the foundation of a government medical college in Bagalkote, a project he said fulfills the vision of the late leader H.Y. Meti. He acknowledged that the establishment of this medical facility aligns with the aspirations and goals laid out by Meti. Furthermore, Siddaramaiah mentioned that a by-election will be taking place in the Bagalkote Assembly segment shortly.
In response to accusations from the BJP that the foundation-laying event was strategically timed due to the impending by-poll, the Chief Minister challenged the party's inaction during their four years in power regarding the establishment of a medical college. He stated that tenders have been issued, an agency has been appointed, and the groundwork is set to commence.
In addressing opposition claims that the budget lacked funds for the Upper Krishna Project, Siddaramaiah announced that compensation cheques for affected families would start distribution from Saturday, assuring that all impacted households would receive compensation within a span of three to four years.
Regarding the E-Swathu system issues in the State, the Chief Minister assured that solutions are forthcoming.
Siddaramaiah also mentioned that the party high command will determine the candidates for the Bagalkote and Davanagere South by-elections. When asked if a family member of H.Y. Meti would be considered, he acknowledged their candidacy among other aspirants.
He further indicated that the announcement for the by-elections could be expected within a week, stating, “Anyone can seek the ticket, but the high command will ultimately award it to just one candidate, regardless of how many family members show interest.” He concluded by affirming that the party is fully prepared for the upcoming bypolls.
