Mysuru, April 26 (NationPress) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah remarked on Saturday that the "Sangh Parivar never participated in the freedom struggle, yet today they speak about patriotism".

"It is essential for our party members to comprehend that Veer Savarkar and M.S. Golwalkar, who are revered as icons by BJP supporters, opposed the Constitution crafted by B.R. Ambedkar," he further stated.

While addressing a special lecture at the "Yuva Kranti" training camp organized by the Youth Congress, Siddaramaiah emphasized that the Congress has made significant contributions and sacrifices in both the freedom movement and the establishment of modern India.

He reiterated that the Congress was founded to promote civil rights and social justice for all Indians.

"The Sangh Parivar never engaged in the freedom struggle, yet they now preach about patriotism," the Chief Minister remarked with irony.

"Just as Mahatma Gandhi spearheaded the freedom movement, it was the late Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru who established a robust foundation for Ambedkar's Constitution in India. Nehru's efforts in fostering unity and championing tolerance within India's diverse society were remarkable," he mentioned.

He noted that the caste system, inspired by Manusmriti, has caused profound divisions within Indian society, and this historical reality must be acknowledged.

"The Youth Congress is dedicated to upholding India's Constitution and its pluralism. You must understand the reasons behind our efforts to strengthen the Congress and how the RSS and Sangh Parivar oppose India's diversity and the Constitution. Those who lack this understanding may not stay in the Congress for long," Siddaramaiah cautioned.

He also stated that freedom, equality, fraternity, tolerance, and coexistence are fundamental to our Constitution — and to India itself.

Quoting Ambedkar, Siddaramaiah asserted, "Power should not remain in the hands of a few privileged individuals; it must be given to the common man".

"The Congress empowers individuals with rights and opportunities, whereas the BJP distributes power and opportunities to a select few, which contradicts the Constitution," he alleged.

Thus, he concluded that the BJP is, in essence, opposed to the Constitution.

Siddaramaiah noted that during his two terms as Chief Minister, he initiated and executed programs aimed at reducing inequality.

"For true freedom to be realized, every person must attain economic and social empowerment. Uplifting the most marginalized is the essence of Sarvodaya," he added.

He criticized the way ignorance, superstition, and fatalistic beliefs have been artificially perpetuated through constant reinforcement.

"God does not discriminate among people. Be wary of those who propagate superstition in the name of God," he warned.

He emphasized that God, as envisioned by Basavanna, is the true deity we should acknowledge.

"Simply folding hands before God after committing sins will not absolve one of wrongdoing," he expressed.

"The BJP spreads falsehoods in the name of God and religion, and there is an urgent need to raise public awareness against it."

Siddaramaiah pointed out that even Ambedkar explicitly stated that Savarkar and Dhangekar were accountable for his electoral loss.

"If you have clarity and commitment, regardless of what others do, you will not waver," he remarked.

He also mentioned that Rama Jois of the BJP had contested against the reservation policy introduced by Rajiv Gandhi, yet the court upheld Gandhi's constitutional amendment, confirming it as constitutional.

He added that the BJP had opposed the Mandal Commission report that recommended reservations.

He concluded by highlighting that if young members foster a clear understanding of history and principles, they can emerge as formidable leaders in the future.

Siddaramaiah advocated for such Youth Congress workshops to be organized in every district across the state.
