Bengaluru, May 2 (NationPress) Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah disclosed on Friday that he has been receiving threat calls. This statement was made during his visit to Mandya while addressing a media inquiry about the threat calls directed at Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader.
"I too receive threat calls - it’s part of the job. The Police Department has been notified. We’ve instructed them to trace the callers and take necessary action," he stated.
When pressed whether he personally has been a target of these calls, Siddaramaiah affirmed, "Yes, I have also received threat calls."
In relation to the murder of Hindu activist Suhas Shetty in Mangaluru, Siddaramaiah commented: "I need to gather more information on this case. I spoke to the police recently. It appears he had a rowdy sheet history. We have dispatched the ADGP, Law and Order, to investigate the situation. The details of the murder and its motives are still unclear."
"Regardless of who the perpetrators are, a human life is invaluable. I have directed officials to track down the suspects and ensure they face legal consequences," he emphasized.
When questioned about whether the murder was premeditated, Siddaramaiah responded, "We must determine if it was planned in advance. I don't have insights yet; this will be disclosed during the investigation."
Commenting on BJP leaders visiting Mangaluru for Shetty's final rites, CM Siddaramaiah remarked: "BJP leaders often seek to capitalize on incidents like these for political gain."
"What do BJP leaders say about the Pahalgam terror attack from last week? Did Prime Minister Narendra Modi visit the site? Twenty-six lives were lost when terrorists opened fire. Has the Prime Minister expressed concern?" he questioned.
"Isn’t this a security failure? Isn't it a lapse? A leader who visited Kashmir told me there was no security or police presence. What does that signify? Countless tourists visit there; shouldn't there be police deployment?"
On the rise in liquor prices during his administration, CM Siddaramaiah stated: "Are you familiar with the temperance policy? The goal isn't to ban alcohol completely but to reduce its consumption. Increasing prices is a strategy to mitigate drinking habits."
