Bengaluru, Dec 24 (NationPress) The State Backward Classes Awareness Forum has announced plans to hold an Ahinda convention in support of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on January 25, 2026, in Mysuru.

The event aims to showcase the strength of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

During a preliminary meeting held today in Mysuru, Ahinda leaders confirmed the date and location for the convention, aiming to attract between 25,000 and 30,000 attendees. Key figures present included Forum President K. Shivaram, coordinator Yogesh, and senior leader Nanjundaswamy, alongside over 25 leaders from various Ahinda factions.

Shivaram noted that while CM Siddaramaiah will not attend the event personally, invitations will be sent to authors, progressive thinkers, and selected Congress party leaders.

The convention is organized to assert that CM Siddaramaiah should not face any disturbance, as he remains the sole representative of the Ahinda groups in the state.

For context, in Ahinda, ‘A’ signifies minorities (alpasankyatharu), ‘HIND’ represents OBCs (hindulida jaati), and ‘D’ stands for SCs and STs (Dalits).

Shivaram further expressed that should CM Siddaramaiah be removed, the Congress party risks losing the Ahinda vote bank. “This event will highlight Siddaramaiah’s essential role within the Congress party,” he emphasized.

Reacting to this development from Delhi, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar commented on CM Siddaramaiah’s camp's intention to showcase strength via the Ahinda convention, wishing everyone well.

During a press conference at Karnataka Bhavan in Delhi, Shivakumar stated, “I value being a party worker more than holding any position in the party. Since 1980, I have remained a party worker and will continue to do so.”

When asked about his satisfaction with the role of Deputy Chief Minister for the next five years, he reiterated, “I will remain a party worker. The role of a party worker is my only permanent position.”

Meanwhile, Congress MLA K.N. Rajanna, a close ally of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, expressed the belief that the party leadership may not interfere with state leadership matters.

Any decisions regarding leadership alterations in Karnataka, including the Chief Minister and ministers, will rest exclusively with the party's high command, though no timeline for such decisions is currently available.

Point of View
