BJP Claims Siddaramaiah's Government Betrayed AHINDA Communities in Karnataka
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Davanagere, April 1 (NationPress) Accusing the Siddaramaiah-led government of failing the AHINDA communities, Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) General Secretary and MLA, V. Sunil Kumar, stated on Wednesday that the Chief Minister, who rose to power by invoking the name of AHINDA, has consistently let down these groups within society.
He pointed out that even after three years in governance, the Congress administration has not delivered justice to any societal segment.
It's important to clarify that AHINDA represents Alpasankhyataru (Minorities), Hindulidavaru (Backward Classes), and Dalitaru (Dalits).
At a press conference regarding the Davanagere South by-election, Sunil Kumar claimed that the Chief Minister has repeatedly asserted his commitment to safeguarding the interests of AHINDA communities, yet has misled them.
He accused Siddaramaiah of using the AHINDA narrative for political gain without providing tangible benefits to the community.
According to Sunil Kumar, the state government has been an utter failure throughout its tenure.
He highlighted that funds pledged in the previous budget for various corporations supporting backward classes have not been disbursed, a fact corroborated by the state government's own records.
"While the administration seeks publicity through announcements, it has actually decreased funding for several initiatives, leading to significant injustice," he remarked.
He noted that during a visit to Davanagere, the Chief Minister claimed to have made considerable contributions to AHINDA communities, but in truth, the Congress has committed substantial injustice against them.
He urged the electorate to deny their support to the current government in the forthcoming by-election for failing to protect the interests of these communities.
Sunil Kumar alleged that the findings of the state's social and educational survey by former Advocate General Madhusudhan Naik have been neglected.
Although the survey was conducted in September 2025, and the report was anticipated within a month, it has yet to be published as of April 2026.
He further stated that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has remained mute on this matter.
Additionally, he claimed that previous reports, such as the 2014 Kantharaju report and the 2025 Jayaprakash Hegde report, have also been disregarded without justification, suggesting the same fate may befall the Madhusudhan Naik report.
Sunil Kumar noted that ₹500 crore of taxpayer money was allocated for the survey, yet it was not mentioned in the state budget.
"Despite raising concerns, the state has remained unresponsive, resulting in injustice for the backward classes," he added.
He also accused the state government of secretly planning to terminate outsourced employees.
There is confusion in administration, with approximately 2.75 lakh vacancies, yet the government has not filled these roles.
"Although the government promised to fill 25,000 positions, it now claims to lack the necessary funds," he asserted.
Sunil Kumar alleged that Below Poverty Line cards have been revoked, and pensions slashed under various pretenses to reallocate funds for guarantee schemes.
He stated that the current government has disregarded all previous initiatives from the BJP administration, under the illusion that guarantees alone equate to progress.
He called upon voters to support BJP candidates in both the Belagavi and Davanagere Assembly constituencies, asserting that the election outcomes would herald the decline of the Congress-led state government.
Present at the event were former State BJP President Nalin Kumar Kateel, BJP MLA B.P. Harish, district party general secretary Jagadish, state party media committee member Avinash, media coordinator Vishwas, among others.
In statements to the media in Bagalkot, former Minister Aravind Limbavali remarked that residents are portraying the state government as lacking in developmental initiatives.
He added that while Chief Minister Siddaramaiah continually claims leadership for AHINDA, there's a growing discontent regarding the injustices faced by AHINDA communities and Dalits.
He noted that during the previous BJP administration, reservations for SC and ST communities were enhanced, but the current government has reduced them.
He sarcastically remarked that this is the "major contribution" of the Siddaramaiah-led administration, emphasizing that these communities have been thrust into a state of uncertainty.
Sunil Kumar further alleged that funds designated for the advancement of SC and ST communities are being redirected for alternate uses and are now financing free schemes.
He criticized the government for creating confusion surrounding internal reservations.
He expressed confidence that the public would hold the Congress-led state government accountable for its "anti-people" and "anti-Dalit" policies in the upcoming bypolls.
He also urged the government to swiftly fill vacant positions to benefit the youth.
