BJP Claims Betrayal of AHINDA Communities by Siddaramaiah's Government Ahead of By-elections
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Davanagere, April 1 (NationPress) Accusing the Siddaramaiah-led Karnataka government of neglecting the AHINDA communities, BJP General Secretary and MLA V. Sunil Kumar stated on Wednesday that the Chief Minister, who initially championed these groups, has consistently let them down.
He pointed out that the Congress administration, after three years in office, has failed to bring justice to any segment of society.
It's important to clarify that AHINDA represents Alpasankhyataru (Minorities), Hindulidavaru (Backward Classes), and Dalitaru (Dalits).
During a press conference regarding the upcoming Davanagere South by-election, Sunil Kumar emphasized that despite the Chief Minister's numerous pledges to safeguard the interests of AHINDA groups, he has instead misled them.
He claimed that Siddaramaiah merely used AHINDA for political rhetoric without delivering tangible benefits to the community.
According to Sunil Kumar, the government has been utterly ineffective over the past three years.
He pointed out that funds promised in the previous budget for various corporations aimed at backward classes have not been allocated, which is evident from the government's own statistics.
"While the administration seeks publicity through announcements, it has reduced funding for many initiatives, causing significant injustice," he remarked.
Sunil Kumar also noted that during his visits to Davanagere, Siddaramaiah has claimed to have significantly aided AHINDA communities, but in truth, the Congress has committed considerable injustices against them.
He urged voters to reject the state government in the forthcoming by-election for failing to protect the interests of these communities.
Additionally, he accused the state of neglecting the social and educational survey report led by former Advocate General Madhusudhan Naik.
Although the survey was completed in September 2025, the report has yet to be published even as of April 2026.
Sunil Kumar highlighted the Chief Minister's silence on this matter.
He further alleged that previous reports, including the 2014 Kantharaju report and the 2025 Jayaprakash Hegde report, were disregarded without justification, raising concerns that the Madhusudhan Naik report might meet the same fate.
Sunil Kumar criticized that Rs 500 crore of taxpayer funds were spent on the survey, yet it was not even referenced in the state budget.
"Despite our inquiries, the government has remained unresponsive, leading to injustice for backward classes," he added.
He also accused the government of secretly planning to terminate outsourced employees.
He expressed that there is administrative chaos, and despite around 2.75 lakh vacant positions, the government has not made efforts to fill them.
"Even though the government announced the filling of 25,000 posts, it now claims to be out of funds," he stated.
Sunil Kumar alleged that Below Poverty Line cards have been revoked and pensions curtailed under various pretenses to manage funds for guarantee schemes.
He asserted that the current administration has disregarded all previous schemes instituted by the BJP government and operates under the misconception that guarantees alone represent development.
He called on voters to support BJP candidates in both the Belagavi and Davanagere Assembly constituencies, claiming that the results will herald the decline of the Congress-led state government.
Former State BJP President Nalin Kumar Kateel, BJP MLA B.P. Harish, district party general secretary Jagadish, state party media committee member Avinash, media coordinator Vishwas, and others were also present.
In a statement to the media in Bagalkot, former Minister Aravind Limbavali remarked that citizens are labeling the state government as lacking in development.
He added that while Chief Minister Siddaramaiah frequently asserts his leadership over AHINDA, there is growing resentment regarding the injustices faced by AHINDA communities and Dalits.
He noted that during the previous BJP administration, reservations for SC and ST communities were expanded, whereas the current government has reduced them.
He sarcastically noted that this is the "major contribution" of the Siddaramaiah-led government, which has left these communities in a state of uncertainty.
Sunil Kumar accused the government of misappropriating funds designated for the development of SC and ST communities, now being used to finance free schemes.
He also criticized the state government for creating confusion surrounding internal reservation.
He stated that voters would teach the Congress-led administration a lesson for its "anti-people" and "anti-Dalit" policies in both Assembly constituencies facing bypolls.
He urged the government to immediately fill vacant positions for the sake of the youth.
