Bengaluru, Feb 18 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP has criticized Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday for allegedly obstructing funds designated for one of the most backward communities.
State BJP President B. Y. Vijayendra asserted that the financial assistance intended for the Vishwagaaniga Community Trust of the significantly backward Gaaniga community has been withheld.
He remarked that Siddaramaiah only remembers backward classes during elections but has failed to take any action for their welfare.
The most backward Kayaka communities continue to face neglect, and now the backward classes are confronting this harsh reality, the BJP leader stated.
Backward Classes Welfare Minister Shivaraj Tangadagi has reportedly blocked the funds allocated for the development of the Vishwagaaniga Community Trust of the Taileshwara Gaaniga society, causing distress within the community, he claimed, adding that this reveals the true nature of the Congress government, which pretends to support social justice but acts contrary to it.
Paramapujya Poornanandapuri Swamiji, in his past life, served as a former minister and dedicated four decades to uplift backward communities. Now, having renounced all worldly possessions and taken up Sannyasa, he is focused on the educational and industrial development of the Gaaniga community and is working to enhance the Shri Math.
He criticized the state government for disregarding Swamiji's pleas and withholding the promised funds.
Later, he urged the government to promptly release the withheld funds.
Swamiji, previously known as B.J. Puttaswamy, served as a former Minister and Deputy Chairman of the Karnataka Planning Commission. Puttaswamy embraced asceticism and became a seer of the Ganiga community. He was coronated as the first pontiff of Shri Kshetra Thaleshwara Ganiga Mahasamsthana Matha on May 15, 2022.
Puttaswamy was a minister in the cabinet of former CM and BJP MP Jagadish Shettar. When the BJP first came to power in Karnataka and faced opposition attacks, Puttaswamy exposed the scams of opposition leaders. He was a close associate of former CM B.S. Yediyurappa.
