Jaipur, Aug 20 (NationPress) A complete shutdown in Rajasthan's Sikar against the proposed Master Plan-2041 garnered significant support on Wednesday, leading to the closure of shops and markets.

The bandh, initiated by the Sangharsh Samiti with backing from traders and farmers, witnessed extensive involvement from various community members.

In response to the bandh, shops and markets closed, while essential services, including hospitals, medical stores, petrol stations, schools, colleges, and coaching centers, were exempted.

Auto-rickshaw and city bus unions were permitted to voluntarily choose their level of participation.

Support for the bandh came from 14 organizations, including the District Sikar Vyapar Mahasangh and Sikar Vyapar Sangh.

Political and social entities such as Congress, CPI(M), CPI, RLP, Bar Association, Kisan Sabha, Khet Mazdoor Union, Janwadi Naujwan Sabha, SFI, and Kisan Kranti Union also expressed their support.

Participants organized a tractor rally throughout the city before assembling for a meeting at Jat Bazaar. This gathering included members of the Sangharsh Samiti, traders, and residents from affected areas.

Topics of discussion revolved around the claimed losses incurred due to the master plan and the strategy for future actions.

The bandh was originally set for August 16 but was postponed due to Janmashtami and rescheduled for Wednesday.

Advocate Suraj Bhan Singh, the convenor of the Sangharsh Samiti, mentioned that over 6,000 objections have been raised against the Master Plan-2041.

He criticized the state government for developing the plan without adequate physical assessments, negatively impacting the lands of farmers from nearly 50 villages and individuals constructing homes around the city.

Major concerns include plans for 200-foot-wide roads and the allocation of agricultural land for alternative purposes.

The committee has called for the cancellation of the master plan, citing widespread public discontent.

During the gathering, the President of Jat Boarding House, Ganesh Bairwal, asserted, "The implementation of Master Plan-2041 by the BJP government has led to the destruction of Sikar."

To ensure public safety during the bandh, officers from the Rajasthan Police Service have been deployed across the city.

Deputy SP Anuj Dal and Inspector Indraraj Marodia, along with police teams, actively monitored the situation on the ground.

Point of View

I acknowledge the deep-rooted concerns of the Sikar community regarding the Master Plan-2041. It's essential for the government to engage with citizens and consider their grievances to foster trust and effective governance.
