Jaipur, July 16 (NationPress) A one-day Special Intensive Revision (SIR) training event took place on Wednesday, aimed at equipping 43 master trainers from 41 districts to spearhead a significant voter list revision initiative throughout Rajasthan.
This program was chaired by the Chief Electoral Officer of Rajasthan, Naveen Mahajan.
During the opening session, CEO Naveen Mahajan announced that, inspired by the successful model from Bihar, the Election Commission of India has launched a nationwide SIR campaign. He noted that the last similar extensive voter list revision occurred in 2002.
In this round, Rajasthan will participate, with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) making home visits to update and confirm electoral information.
To ensure the campaign's success, comprehensive training was provided to the 43 master trainers. They will return to their districts to train BLOs and supervisors.
The campaign will focus on door-to-door outreach, where BLOs will interact with over 5.75 crore voters in Rajasthan, gathering data through a structured counting format to ensure the voter lists are accurate and up-to-date.
Mahajan underscored the necessity of adhering to the latest guidelines and instructions issued by the Election Commission of India and the Chief Electoral Officer’s office in Rajasthan.
He also encouraged trainers to familiarize themselves with Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about the voter revision process for clarity and efficiency during fieldwork.
Dr. Raunaque Bairagi, the Joint Chief Electoral Officer, held a detailed session explaining the responsibilities of BLOs in the SIR.
He outlined the procedural, technical, and public engagement aspects that BLOs must follow during the campaign.
Ashish Kumar, the Deputy District Election Officer of Jaipur, was also present during the session.
Officials anticipate that this campaign will significantly improve the accuracy of electoral rolls and boost voter participation in the upcoming elections.
Previously, on Tuesday, a meeting was organized under the chairmanship of Naveen Mahajan at the Government Secretariat.
The meeting's agenda was focused on preparations for the forthcoming SIR Program of the Photo Voter Lists, as proposed by the Election Commission of India, alongside other election-related activities.
During this meeting, Divisional Commissioners, District Election Officers, and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers from Ajmer and Bikaner Divisions participated via video conferencing.
In addressing the officials, CEO Mahajan stressed that the primary aim of the SIR program is to ensure accuracy, transparency, and inclusivity in voter lists, enabling every eligible citizen to exercise their voting rights.
He directed the establishment of help desks at all levels—from Gram Panchayat to district headquarters—and insisted that personnel at these desks be well-versed in SIR guidelines and procedures.
Mahajan further instructed that essential human resources, such as BLOs, Information Assistants, and Supervisors, should be appointed and trained without delay.
He emphasized the importance of selecting volunteers and providing them with adequate training to effectively support the campaign.
To maintain transparency and accuracy, the CEO ordered the creation of special inspection teams for random checks to guarantee that no eligible citizen is omitted from the voter list.
