Mangaluru, Sep 26 (NationPress) The Dharmadhikari of the renowned Dharmasthala temple and BJP Rajya Sabha member Veerendra Heggade remarked on Friday that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) looking into the mass grave case is unveiling the truth, expressing his appreciation for the Congress-led government in the state.
While addressing a crowd at Dharmasthala, Heggade stated, "People have witnessed how ruthlessly high-handedness was unleashed upon us. We have never caused pain to anyone, so how could people turn hostile towards us?"
"Individuals and media have persistently questioned me, 'Why am I being interrogated and targeted?' I too seek clarity on this matter. Everything else is becoming evident at this juncture," he added.
He conveyed gratitude to all who supported this Dharmasthala pilgrimage centre.
"I have never nurtured hatred or insulted anyone. So why did this occur? We are confident because we have not committed any wrong. Lord Manjunatha Swamy and Appanna Swamy will oversee everything," concluded Veerendra Heggade.
The BJP State President and MLA B. Y. Vijayendra mentioned on Thursday, "The Congress-led government is actively facilitating a systematic conspiracy aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the esteemed Hindu religious site, Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala."
Vijayendra alleged that the government disregarded the Supreme Court's ruling and established an SIT based on a complaint from a group of activists with ill intent.
"The Supreme Court had dismissed the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by this group back on May 5, 2025. However, the government concealed this information and accepted a complaint based on fabricated accusations. Subsequently, under the influence of radical left-wing ideologues, the government feigned neutrality and initiated an SIT. This is a blatant violation of the Supreme Court's directives," he claimed.
"We have been asserting a conspiracy from the onset, and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar himself has acknowledged this. It is in light of this orchestrated plot that we have been advocating for a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the Dharmasthala matter," Vijayendra stated.
