Jammu, April 15 (NationPress) An Army soldier lost his life due to electrocution after climbing on top of a train in the Samba district of J&K, according to an official report on Tuesday.

The event transpired on Monday evening near the Bari Brahmana railway station.

The official detailed that 24-year-old Ramchandra Choudhary from Jodhpur, Rajasthan, was fatally electrocuted after making contact with a live wire while on top of the train.

Choudhary was in transit for a new posting in Sikandrabad, Uttar Pradesh, serving with a territorial army battalion and was stationed in Srinagar.

His remains have been transported to the Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital in Jammu to finalize medico-legal procedures.

The reasons behind the soldier's decision to ascend the train remain unclear.

It is worth noting that individuals often used to climb onto the top of coal-powered trains; however, doing so on electric trains can lead to fatal consequences.

In a separate incident, 11 individuals were injured when a mini-bus lost control and overturned in the Manjakot region of Rajouri district on Tuesday.

All the injured parties were taken to a hospital for medical attention.

Additionally, a road accident on Monday near Banihal town in the Ramban district resulted in one fatality and 11 injuries.

Critically wounded individuals were relocated for advanced treatment to the GMC hospital in Anantnag town.

Officials from the Traffic Department attribute accidents in the hilly regions of the Jammu division—including Ramban, Rajouri, Kishtwar, Doda, Udhampur, and Poonch districts—to factors such as overspeeding, overloading, reckless driving, and road rage.

Specialized squads from the Traffic Department have been deployed in high-risk areas to enforce traffic regulations.
