New Delhi, June 19 (NationPress) Sonia Gandhi, the chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP), was released from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in the capital on Thursday after addressing a stomach-related health issue.
Dr. Ajay Swaroop, chairman of Ganga Ram Hospital, provided an update on her health status, confirming that Sonia Gandhi is stable and has been discharged.
The former Congress President was admitted on June 15 due to stomach complications.
Medical professionals, Dr. S. Nundy and Dr. Amitabh Yadav, who provided care for the 78-year-old leader, reported that she was treated for an abdominal infection with medication.
"Her condition has notably improved through conservative treatment, and she will continue her recovery as an outpatient with close monitoring," they stated.
Her discharge coincides with the 55th birthday celebrations of her son, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. Born on June 19, 1970, Rahul is receiving heartfelt birthday wishes from leaders across political lines, making this development even more special for the family.
The family marks Sonia’s recovery and discharge as a joyful occasion.
It is worth noting that this is the second hospitalization for the former Congress president this month.
Earlier, on June 7, she was admitted to Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMCH) in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, due to complaints of restlessness.
A doctor at IGMCH reported that Sonia Gandhi’s blood pressure was slightly elevated but stable and normal.
"She was brought in for a routine health check-up due to minor health concerns," Naresh Chauhan, Principal Advisor (Media) to the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, explained.
Upon learning of Sonia Gandhi’s condition, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu altered his visit to Una and promptly traveled to Shimla.
