New Delhi, June 19 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, revealed on Thursday her intention to spearhead the celebration of International Yoga Day this Saturday alongside her Cabinet and residents at 11 diverse venues.
In her message shared on X, CM Gupta expressed, “On June 21, as we mark International Yoga Day, we will collectively initiate a new tradition in our capital. My Cabinet colleagues and Delhi MPs will join you all in practicing yoga at 11 esteemed sites across the city.”
The chosen 11 venues feature Chhatarsal Stadium, Yamuna River Banks, Thyagraj Stadium, Sports Complex East Vinod Nagar, Sports Complex Jhilmil, Rajiv Gandhi Stadium Bawana, Sports Complex Prahladpur, Sports Complex Bharata Nagar, Najafgarh Stadium, Cricket Ground Sector 6 Dwarka, and Hockey Stadium Ashok Nagar.
CM Gupta stated, “This event is not just a celebration of yoga but also a testament to public engagement and empowerment, where government and society unite to promote a healthier, more informed, and empowered Delhi.”
She encouraged all residents of Delhi to actively partake in the yoga day festivities.
“I invite everyone to transform this Yoga Mahaparva into a memorable public celebration on June 21, reinforcing our commitment to 'One India, Healthy India,'” she emphasized in her post.
Besides the initiatives by the Delhi government, Indiatourism Delhi has organized an event at Qutub Minar to showcase the country's enduring wellness legacy and its dedication to global wellness, as shared by an official.
The yoga session at Qutub will be led by the esteemed Yoga Guru Gopal Rishi and his team, who will guide participants through a sequence of holistic yoga practices aimed at enhancing physical strength, mental well-being, and inner tranquility.
Special guests attending from abroad include Malaysia's representatives, and Sri Lanka’s Deputy High Commissioner Priyanga Wickramasinghe along with Minister Counsellor Wathsala Amarasinghe, as confirmed by an official.
