Varanasi, March 8 (NationPress) The renowned Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi has launched a special program on Saturday to celebrate women with exclusive arrangements for female devotees on International Women's Day.
From the early hours of Saturday, women were granted VIP Darshan through a dedicated entrance at Gate Number 4, specifically set up for them.
This initiative, which is available for the entire day, allows women to enjoy a seamless darshan of Lord Shiva and carry out the sacred 'Jalabhishek', all while steering clear of the usual temple crowds.
Vishwa Bhushan Mishra, the Chief Executive Officer of Kashi Vishwanath Temple, stated, “This initiative was inspired by a suggestion from a media group advocating for special arrangements for women on International Women’s Day.
“We quickly embraced the proposal and decided to designate Gate Number 4, typically used for Kashi residents, as a dedicated entry point for women.
“This provision is accessible during both the morning and evening shifts, enabling women to visit the temple with ease. Moreover, the proposal also incorporates health checkup services, which will be available to women on this day.”
The initiative received positive feedback from women in the city, who expressed their appreciation to both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for this considerate gesture.
In a statement to IANS, local resident Kanti Chaudhary said, “This is such a remarkable initiative. Living in Varanasi, we often miss the opportunity to visit Baba Bholenath due to the huge crowds. However, with this special arrangement, we can now worship in peace. We are truly grateful to Modi ji for making this possible for us.”
International Women's Day, observed worldwide on March 8, is a day to recognize the cultural, political, and socio-economic accomplishments of women and girls. It also urges a renewed dedication to fostering gender equality.
The theme for IWD 2025, 'Accelerate Action,' highlights the urgent need for swift and decisive measures to promote gender parity across the globe.
