Varanasi, March 7 (NationPress) On this International Women's Day, the revered Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi has launched a special initiative to celebrate ‘Nari Shakti’ (women empowerment) by making unique arrangements for female devotees.

This event allows women to experience VIP Darshan throughout the day, facilitated by a dedicated entrance at Gate Number 4, specially created for them.

This initiative ensures that women can engage in a seamless darshan of Lord Shiva and perform the sacred 'Jalabhishek', all while evading the usual temple crowd.

The effort has received warm appreciation from the city’s women, who have expressed their gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for this considerate act.

In an interview with IANS, local resident Kanti Chaudhary remarked, “This initiative is truly admirable. Living in Varanasi, we often miss the chance to visit Baba Bholenath due to the heavy crowd. However, with this special arrangement, we now have the opportunity to worship peacefully. We are genuinely thankful to Modi ji for making this feasible for us.”

Nisha, another local woman, also conveyed her heartfelt appreciation for this arrangement.

“We are immensely grateful to both Modi ji and Yogi ji for bringing forth this exceptional initiative. There’s nothing more fulfilling than being able to have darshan of Mahadev in the city of Mahadev without the inconvenience of long waits. We thank them sincerely and will pray for the well-being of Yogi ji. May he continue to serve the nation with unwavering dedication,” she stated.

Vishwa Bhushan Mishra, the Chief Executive Officer of Kashi Vishwanath Temple, stated, “This initiative originated from a suggestion by a media group recommending that special provisions be established for women on International Women’s Day. We promptly embraced the proposal and decided to designate Gate Number 4, typically reserved for Kashi residents, as a special access point for women. This provision will be available in both the morning and evening shifts, ensuring women can visit the temple comfortably. Furthermore, the proposal included provisions for health checkup services for women on this day.”

International Women's Day, recognized worldwide on March 8, is a moment to celebrate the cultural, political, and socio-economic accomplishments of women and girls. It also urges a renewed commitment to advancing gender equality.

The theme for IWD 2025, 'Accelerate Action', highlights the critical need for prompt, decisive measures to promote gender parity globally.
