Empowering Women: Insights from the 'Nari to Narayani' Convention
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 8 (NationPress) The two-day National Convention titled 'Nari to Narayani', held in honor of International Women's Day, is an outstanding effort aimed at empowering women, stated S. Mahesh, a Kalari expert who participated in a panel discussion at this significant gathering. The event not only celebrated women's achievements but also served as a platform for innovative ideas and collaborations that will help shape India's future.
The Convention is taking place at Vigyan Bhawan in the capital and provides a solid foundation for various initiatives launched by the Government of India, including Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, Mission Shakti, Sakhi Centres, and the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana.
In an interview with IANS, Mahesh, a fifth-generation practitioner from Agastyam Kalari, expressed, "This initiative is indeed remarkable. I discussed the importance of empowering women through martial arts skills. When we refer to Shakti, it embodies power that stems from the warrior spirit. Sadly, this spirit of warriorship is lacking throughout India. A warrior, whether man or woman, is someone who stands up for society, providing protection and care. We need to revive that warrior spirit."
"We have initiated a movement named Bharati Shakti, which aims to train young girls in Kalari martial arts, thereby empowering them through these skills. To date, we have successfully trained 15,000 girls through our Shakti initiative," he added.
The two-day National Convention serves as a collaborative space for women leaders to engage in discussions and devise transformative strategies for self-reliance and holistic growth.
By connecting and empowering women, this Convention plays a vital role in realizing the Prime Minister’s vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047, with women leading the charge for inclusive growth and national development.
